PRESS RELEASE 03 Dec 2019 – Design Hotel Levi, the new luxury concept in Finnish Lapland opened on Saturday, November 30th. The hotel’s genuine focus on art and hip Nordic design builds a unique and powerful atmosphere. Design and art are ubiquitous in the hotel, contributing to an immersive and luxurious experience while surrounded by Lapland’s snowy wilderness.

The interiors and the atmosphere of the hotel rooms have been designed by the Finnish interior designer Tuula Ylinenpää, with a background in many high-profile projects, including the stunningly beautiful Joe Lalli Resort located in Moganshan, China. According to Ms Ylinenpää, each room of Design Hotel Levi creates an elegant whole where Nordic design, art and the surrounding Lapland highlands fuse in a unique and truly magical way.

“A hotel room should always offer an experience in its own right. The luxurious interiors of Design Hotel Levi’s rooms are based on unconventional design decisions, a distinctive set of colours, play between light and shadow, and dramatic contrasts which conjure a powerful and highly original atmosphere,” describes Tuula Ylinenpää.

”In all of the room interiors, the furniture, the lighting, the interior surfaces and all of the fabrics are gorgeously visual. The quality of the materials is tangible: carpentry, marble, wool, velvet and blown glass. The furniture features top-notch Finnish design by Harri Koskinen, Timo Ripatti, Adea, Nikari and Hakola. Johanna Gullichsen’s woven textiles serve as bed covers. Included are also blown glass lights by Katriina Nuutinen and Nordic design classics by the world-famous Eero Aarnio. The hotel rooms’ wall-to-wall design carpets mimic the beautiful lichen of the Lapland highlands in colour and texture. The thick goose and duck-down pillows and eiderdowns by Joutsen Finland add the finishing touches to the luxurious beds. Each detail in the hotel rooms provides compelling visual and tactile experiences,” continues Ms Ylinenpää.

“The resulting whole is crowned by the soft and refined Keith bathrobes and towels by Missoni, with Missoni’s signature zigzag pattern reflecting the hotel’s colour scheme and the decidedly angled architectural design of the hotel’s interior spaces and corridors. With the bathrobes, you can enjoy the quality of Design Hotel Levi even on your very skin! The hotel truly offers an immersive total experience where each detail is about indulgence and quality,” says Ms Ylinenpää.
